Beautiful Harris Ranch Resort Offers Free Dry Camping

While traveling through Central California, just off I-5, we discovered a resort seemingly in the middle of nowhere, Harris Ranch Resort. I found the resort on Campendium.com while looking for a place to pull into for the night on our way south.

When we were within about three miles of the resort I began to smell the unmistakable smell of many cows. You know the one. I was a bit worried it would smell terrible at the resort but the wind direction was in our favor. Whew!

Airstream in Harris Ranch Parking Lot

Aside from blue skies and palm trees, there isn’t much around here except the resort, a gas station, and a large truck lot. I called and was told to park in the large parking lot between the restaurant and the resort.

I have a Levelmate Pro which tells me how to level the trailer is from an app on my phone. I love it because it’s so helpful to find the most level spot in a site or parking lot. I got fairly level side to side, unplugged the truck and trailer so as not to drain my truck battery, then leveled front to back using the tongue jack. Setup complete.

Harris Ranch Night

We went for a long walk around the property and grabbed some BBQ ribs from the restaurant.

I’m sitting here writing and trying to decide where to stay tomorrow night. I’ve got friends in Indio I promised to visit and then I’m off to a little town near Benson, AZ. I’ll tell you more about that later.
